The short version

DiamondGlow exfoliates, extracts and infuses a serum chosen for your skin, all in the same pass. People ask about it as a step up from a classic facial.

What is DiamondGlow?

DiamondGlow is a medical-grade skin resurfacing treatment that goes beyond traditional facials by working at the dermal level.

Developed by Allergan Aesthetics, this advanced device uses a patented recessed diamond tip wand that simultaneously performs three critical functions: it exfoliates the outermost layer of skin, extracts debris from pores through pneumatic suction, and infuses professional-grade SkinMedica Pro-Infusion Serums directly into the freshly treated skin where they can be absorbed most effectively.

Unlike surface-level treatments that deposit products on top of the skin, DiamondGlow delivers active ingredients beneath the stratum corneum, the skin’s protective outer barrier. This dermalinfusion technology ensures that serums reach the layers of the skin where they can produce real, visible change. The result is a treatment that addresses texture, tone, hydration, and clarity in a single session with no downtime.

How the DiamondGlow treatment works

Your DiamondGlow session begins with a consultation in which your esthetician evaluates your skin and selects the appropriate diamond tip and Pro-Infusion Serum for your concerns.

DiamondGlow offers multiple diamond tip options in varying levels of coarseness, from ultra-fine for sensitive areas to more aggressive tips for thicker, more resilient skin on the body.

During the treatment, the wand is guided methodically across the face, neck, or decollete. As it moves, the diamond tip gently abrades the surface layer while controlled suction lifts and removes dead cells, oil, and impurities from pores. Simultaneously, the chosen serum is delivered through the same wand directly into the skin at the precise depth where absorption is maximized.

The available Pro-Infusion Serums each target specific concerns: hyaluronic acid for deep hydration, vitamin C for brightening and antioxidant protection, retinol for anti-aging and cell renewal, salicylic acid for pore-clearing and acne control, and a luxury skin brightening formula for hyperpigmentation. Your esthetician may also use different serums on different zones of the face to create a customized treatment.

Ideal candidates and treatment areas

DiamondGlow is suitable for all skin types and most skin concerns.

It is an excellent choice for clients seeking visible improvement in dullness, rough or uneven texture, fine lines, dehydration, acne and congestion, hyperpigmentation, or enlarged pores. Because the treatment intensity can be adjusted through tip selection and suction level, it can be planned around accommodate sensitive skin as well as more resilient complexions.

While the face is the most common treatment area, DiamondGlow can also be performed on the neck, decollete, hands, and back. These areas often show signs of aging and sun damage yet are frequently neglected in standard skincare routines. Treating these zones with DiamondGlow extends the benefits of dermalinfusion to the areas where you need it most.

DiamondGlow is a strong option for clients who have tried over-the-counter exfoliating products without satisfactory results, as well as those who want a step up from traditional facials without committing to the downtime of more aggressive procedures.

What to expect: Results and recovery

You will notice smoother, more luminous skin immediately following your DiamondGlow treatment.

The exfoliation reveals a fresh layer of skin while the infused serums deliver an instant plumping and hydrating effect. There is no significant downtime. You may experience mild pinkness similar to a light sunburn for one to two hours after the procedure, but most clients are able to return to their normal routine, including applying makeup, within hours.

For clients seeking cumulative improvement, we recommend a series of four to six treatments spaced two to four weeks apart. This approach allows each session to build on the previous one, progressively refining texture, reducing hyperpigmentation, minimizing pore size, and strengthening the skin’s barrier function. After completing an initial series, monthly maintenance sessions help sustain your results.

Your esthetician will provide aftercare instructions, which typically include avoiding exfoliating products for 48 hours, applying a gentle moisturizer, and wearing broad-spectrum sunscreen daily. Following these guidelines maximizes the longevity of your results and protects your freshly treated skin.

How long does a DiamondGlow treatment take?

A DiamondGlow treatment for the face typically takes 30 to 45 minutes. When treating additional areas such as the neck, chest, or hands, your session may extend to 60 minutes. Your initial visit will also include a consultation and skin analysis.

Is there any downtime after DiamondGlow?

DiamondGlow requires no significant downtime. You may notice mild pinkness for one to two hours following treatment, similar to a light windburn, but most clients return to their regular activities and can apply makeup within hours of their session.

Which Pro-Infusion Serum is right for me?

Your esthetician will recommend the optimal serum based on your skin analysis. Options include hyaluronic acid for hydration, vitamin C for brightening, retinol for anti-aging, salicylic acid for acne-prone skin, and a brightening formula for pigmentation concerns. We can even use different serums on different facial zones.

How many DiamondGlow sessions do I need?

While you will see improvement after a single session, we recommend a series of four to six treatments spaced two to four weeks apart for optimal cumulative results. After your initial series, monthly maintenance treatments help preserve your improvements long-term.

Can DiamondGlow help with acne scars?

DiamondGlow can improve the texture and appearance of mild acne scarring by promoting exfoliation and infusing serums that support cell renewal. For deeper or pitted scarring, your esthetician may recommend combining DiamondGlow with other treatments such as microneedling or chemical peels for more full results.
