The short version

Ultherapy uses focused ultrasound to wake up your own collagen. One session, an hour or two, no needles and no downtime.

Brow, chin, neck, jawline. The lift builds gradually over the following months, so it looks like you on a very good day and not like you had something done.

How Ultherapy lifts and tightens without surgery

Ultherapy uses micro-focused ultrasound with visualization (MFU-V) to deliver precise thermal energy to targeted depths beneath the skin’s surface.

Unlike lasers and other surface-based technologies that work from the outside in, Ultherapy bypasses the skin’s surface entirely and deposits focused ultrasound energy at specific depths within the deep dermal and subdermal tissue layers, including the superficial muscular aponeurotic system (SMAS), the same foundational layer that plastic surgeons address during surgical facelifts.

When this focused ultrasound energy reaches the targeted tissue depth, it creates small thermal coagulation points that trigger the body’s natural regenerative response. Over the following two to three months, the treated tissue contracts and the body produces fresh, new collagen and elastin to replace the damaged tissue. This process gradually lifts and tightens the skin from within, producing a visible lifting effect on the brow, jawline, chin, neck, and chest without any incisions, anesthesia, or recovery time. The built-in ultrasound visualization system allows your provider to see the tissue layers in real time, ensuring energy is delivered precisely where it will be most effective.

Ultherapy

Treatment areas: Brow, chin, neck, and chest

Ultherapy is FDA-cleared for non-invasive lifting on several key areas where aging and gravity take their earliest visible toll.

The brow lift application opens and elevates the eye area, correcting hooding and heaviness that can make you look tired or older than you feel. Treatment along the jawline and under the chin addresses early jowling and submental laxity, restoring a cleaner, more defined profile. The neck is one of the most requested Ultherapy treatment zones at our Fishkill practice, as it effectively tightens crepey, loose neck skin that creams and serums simply cannot improve.

The decolletage, the upper chest area often exposed by necklines and sun exposure, is another area where Ultherapy excels. Years of sun damage and collagen loss create fine lines and textural changes on the chest that are notoriously difficult to treat with topical products alone. Ultherapy stimulates deep collagen remodeling in this delicate area, smoothing and firming the skin for a more youthful appearance. Many of our patients choose to treat multiple areas in a single full session, addressing the full scope of laxity concerns in one visit with results that unfold naturally over the weeks that follow.

What to expect during and after Ultherapy

An Ultherapy session here typically takes 60 to 90 minutes depending on the number of areas treated.

Before beginning, your provider cleanses the treatment areas and applies ultrasound gel. The Ultherapy handpiece is then placed against the skin, and the integrated imaging system displays the underlying tissue on a screen, allowing your provider to visualize exactly where the energy will be focused. You will feel brief pulses of focused ultrasound energy during the treatment, a sensation often described as tiny points of heat deep beneath the skin followed by a tingling or prickling feeling.

Comfort levels vary by individual and treatment area, and we take steps to ensure your experience is as comfortable as possible, including pre-treatment medication protocols when appropriate. After the session, you may notice mild redness, slight swelling, or tenderness in the treated areas, but these effects are temporary and typically resolve within a few hours to days. There is no true downtime, you can apply makeup, return to work, and resume all normal activities immediately. Results develop gradually as new collagen forms, with initial improvements often visible within one to two months and optimal lifting and tightening results appearing at three to six months after treatment.

Ultherapy

One treatment, lasting results

One of the most compelling aspects of Ultherapy is that a single treatment can produce meaningful, visible lifting results that continue to develop over several months.

While some patients choose to have a follow-up session after a year or more to sustain their results as the natural aging process continues, the majority of patients are treated with just one session. This makes Ultherapy a very efficient investment in your appearance compared to treatments that require ongoing series or frequent maintenance appointments.

Ultherapy does not duplicate the results of a surgical facelift, and it is not intended to do so. What it offers is a meaningful, noticeable lift and tightening for patients who are experiencing mild to moderate skin laxity and want to address it proactively without the risks, cost, and recovery associated with surgery. It is an excellent standalone treatment for patients in their thirties through sixties who want to delay or avoid surgical intervention, and it pairs beautifully with other services here including neurotoxins, dermal fillers, and our advanced skin resurfacing treatments for a full, non-surgical rejuvenation strategy.

Why people choose Ultherapy here.

Everyone who treats you here is licensed. The practice was founded by a clinical laser trainer who teaches other practices, and training is how this team works.

  • Only FDA-cleared non-invasive lift

Ultherapy is the only non-invasive procedure that has received FDA clearance specifically for lifting skin on the brow, chin, neck, and chest.

  • Reaches deep tissue layers

Focused ultrasound energy reaches the SMAS layer, the same deep tissue targeted during surgical facelifts, without affecting the skin’s surface.

  • Stimulates natural collagen

Ultherapy triggers your body’s own collagen production process, resulting in gradual, natural-looking improvement that looks like you, only refreshed.

  • Single treatment protocol

Most patients achieve their desired results with just one treatment session, making Ultherapy a very efficient and convenient approach to facial rejuvenation.

  • Zero downtime required

Return to all normal activities immediately after treatment. No incisions, no anesthesia, and no recovery period, just gradual, beautiful results.

  • Real-time visualization

Built-in ultrasound imaging lets your provider see the tissue layers being treated in real time, ensuring precise and effective energy delivery at every treatment.

How is Ultherapy different from a laser treatment?

Lasers work on the surface layers of the skin to address issues like pigmentation, texture, and fine lines. Ultherapy works at much deeper tissue levels, specifically the deep dermis and the SMAS layer, to create structural lifting and tightening. The two technologies complement each other beautifully but address fundamentally different concerns. Many patients here combine Ultherapy for deep lifting with laser treatments for surface refinement as part of a full rejuvenation strategy.

How long do Ultherapy results last?

The new collagen produced by Ultherapy is your own natural collagen, and it is subject to the ongoing aging process just like all of your tissue. Most patients enjoy their results for one to two years or longer. Some patients choose to have a maintenance treatment after twelve to eighteen months to sustain their lifted appearance over time. The longevity of results varies depending on individual aging factors, skin quality, and lifestyle.

Is Ultherapy painful?

During the delivery of focused ultrasound energy, you will feel brief sensations of heat and tingling at the targeted tissue depth. Comfort levels vary by individual and by treatment area, some zones are more sensitive than others. We offer pre-treatment comfort measures to ensure your experience is as pleasant as possible. Any discomfort is temporary and limited to the moments when energy is being delivered. Most patients find the treatment very manageable, especially knowing it produces meaningful results in a single session.

When will I see results from Ultherapy?

Some patients notice initial tightening immediately after treatment, but the primary results develop gradually over two to three months as new collagen is produced and the treated tissues remodel and lift. The full extent of improvement is typically visible at three to six months after the procedure. This gradual timeline means your results appear completely natural, people will notice you look refreshed and rested without being able to pinpoint exactly what changed.

Who is a good candidate for Ultherapy?

The ideal Ultherapy candidate has mild to moderate skin laxity, typically someone who notices that their skin does not feel or look as tight as it once did, and who wants to address early signs of laxity without surgery. Common indicators include a lowered brow line, mild jowling along the jawline, loose skin on the neck, or textural changes on the chest. Ultherapy is most popular among patients in their thirties through sixties. It is not a replacement for a surgical facelift in cases of severe laxity, but it is an excellent option for patients seeking meaningful improvement without invasive intervention.
