What is PRP and how does it work?
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is a concentrated solution derived from your own blood that is very rich in growth factors, cytokines, and bioactive proteins essential for tissue repair and regeneration.
The process begins with a simple blood draw, similar to routine lab work. Your blood is then placed in a centrifuge that spins at high speed, separating the plasma and platelets from red and white blood cells. The resulting PRP concentrate contains three to five times the normal platelet concentration, creating a potent regenerative serum unique to you.
When PRP is injected into the skin or scalp, the concentrated platelets release growth factors including platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), transforming growth factor (TGF), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), and epidermal growth factor (EGF). These signaling proteins stimulate collagen synthesis, promote new blood vessel formation, accelerate cellular turnover, and recruit stem cells to the treated area. Because PRP is derived entirely from your own body, there is virtually no risk of allergic reaction or rejection.
