The short version

Lip filler adds shape, definition or a little fullness. Most first-timers start with half a syringe to one full syringe, and we build from there if you want more.

The goal is that people notice you look great, not that you had your lips done.

The art of natural lip augmentation

Beautiful lip enhancement is about far more than adding volume, it is about proportion, balance, and harmony with the rest of your face.

Our approach here begins with a careful analysis of your lip anatomy: the vermillion border, Cupid’s bow, philtral columns, and the ratio between your upper and lower lips. This detailed assessment allows us to design a result that enhances what you already have rather than creating an one-size-fits-all look.

We use soft, flexible hyaluronic acid fillers specifically formulated for the lip area, including options from the Juvederm and Restylane families as well as Revanesse Versa. These products are designed to feel natural within the delicate lip tissue, providing smooth volume without stiffness. Built-in lidocaine ensures a comfortable treatment experience, and because hyaluronic acid is naturally found in the body, the results integrate with your own tissue.

What to expect during your lip treatment

Your lip enhancement appointment at our Fishkill practice begins with an one-on-one consultation where we discuss your goals, preferences, and any concerns.

We may apply a topical numbing cream to maximize comfort, though our lip fillers already contain an integrated anesthetic. Using precise injection techniques, including micro-droplet placement and linear threading, your injector builds volume and definition gradually, checking symmetry and shape at each step.

A lip filler session takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes. You will notice fuller, more defined lips right away, though expect mild swelling for 24 to 72 hours. The final, settled result emerges at about two weeks. A lip flip appointment takes under ten minutes and begins to show results within three to five days, with the full effect visible at two weeks and lasting approximately two to three months. We encourage new lip patients to start conservatively, you can always add more at a follow-up visit.

Aftercare and maintaining your results

Proper aftercare helps you enjoy the smoothest recovery and the best possible outcome.

For the first 24 hours after lip filler, avoid strenuous exercise, excessive heat (saunas, hot yoga), and alcohol, which can increase swelling. Apply ice gently in short intervals to manage puffiness, and avoid pressing or massaging your lips unless directed by your injector. Sleep with your head slightly elevated the first night to minimize morning swelling.

To maintain your lip results over time, we recommend scheduling a touch-up appointment when you notice volume beginning to diminish, typically around the six- to nine-month mark for most patients. Consistent hydration and daily SPF lip balm also help preserve the quality of your lips. Our team here will create a maintenance schedule that keeps your lips looking beautifully refreshed year-round.

How much lip filler will I need?

Most first-time patients achieve a beautiful, natural-looking result with half a syringe to one full syringe (0.5 to 1.0 mL). We always recommend starting conservatively and adding more at a follow-up if desired. Your injector will assess your lip anatomy and discuss the right amount during your consultation at our Fishkill office.

Does lip filler hurt?

Discomfort is quite manageable. We apply a topical numbing cream before treatment, and the filler itself contains lidocaine to numb the area as it is injected. Most patients rate the sensation as mild pressure rather than pain. The entire appointment is over quickly, and any tenderness fades within a day or two.

What is the difference between a lip flip and lip filler?

A lip flip uses a small amount of Botox along the upper lip border to gently relax the muscle, allowing the lip to roll slightly outward for a subtly fuller appearance. Lip filler involves injecting hyaluronic acid into the lip tissue to physically add volume and shape. The lip flip is best for mild enhancement or reducing a gummy smile, while filler provides more noticeable volume and definition. Many patients combine both for an optimal result.

How long do lip fillers last?

Lip filler results typically last six to twelve months, depending on the product used, your metabolism, and lifestyle factors. The lip flip lasts approximately two to three months. We will help you establish a maintenance schedule so your lips always look their best.

Will my lips look overdone?

Not here. Our philosophy centers on enhancing your natural features with subtlety and precision. We analyze your facial proportions and build volume gradually. We would rather have you come back for a touch-up than overtreat in a single session. Our goal is for people to notice that you look great, not that you had your lips done.
